We are looking for an experienced software tester/QA engineer to join our fully distributed QA team testing e-commerce software applications with manual functional testing and automation.

As a QA Test Engineer, you’re responsible for creating & executing test plans for our set of WordPress/WooCommerce extensions. Thousands of store owners are using and relying on these products in their e-commerce businesses everyday and we have a close eye on quality.

You will join a team of dedicated developers, product leaders, and testers to creating new features, enhancing existing ones, and squash bugs. We’re rapidly expanding our much loved tools for store owners and you’ll be joining a growing company doing fun work.

Responsibilities/skills include:

• Creating test plans for new product features and add-ons.
• Understanding the Critical Path of users.
• Writing test plans for sprints.
• Bug and enhancement ticket testing.
• Regression testing.
• Compatibility testing with new releases of upstream products we rely on (WordPress/WooCommerce/3rd Party Plugins).
• Providing feedback to developers via text, reports, and video screencasts.
• Communicating well with the team and supporting your peers using chat, audio, and video.

Bonus points if you also have:

• Comfortable with Git version control (using Github).
• Professional experience working with WordPress and/or WooCommerce plugin development & testing.
• Experience with BDD, Gherkin, Cypress, Nightwatch, Selenium or other automation testing tools.
• Experience with Cucumber Studio.
• Knowledge of Javascript, PHP, and MySQL.
• Familiarity with package managers such as Composer/NPM.
• Familiarity with Docker and/or working with localhost servers.
• Experience working with APIs (eg. WooCommerce/WordPress API, Zapier, Stripe, etc).
• Ability to conceptualize, iterate, and ship quickly.
• Exceptional ability to troubleshoot and narrow down bugs.
• Be user centric, always keeping the customer’s experience and expectations in mind.
• Previous experience working remotely or freelance.

Location & Other Requirements

This is a remote position – our team is spread out all over the world. The company is based in Brisbane, Australia so company operating hours are 9am to 5pm AEST (UTC +10). While it’s not required that you cover that exact timezone, you must be available during a portion of the day for informal/formal meetings & work assignments.

Other Requirements

• Modern laptop/desktop computer system.
• You need to be capable of running any required development tools, local servers, etc, without slowing down or causing restrictions in your work. No pirated operating systems or other non-legit softwares.
• Preferably using Windows 10/11, MacOS, or Linux.
• Reliable fixed broadband internet connection (Ideally a fiber connection for stability + access to a backup).
• Availability to participate in audio/video meetings between 9am to 5pm AEST.
• A webcam and a quiet place to work – the team frequently conducts video and screenshare meetings throughout our work.
